On April 11th, 2011 Sierra Vista Junior High in Canyon Country, California put on one of the largest showcases of innovative ways to keep their students healthy. Throughout the day students were exposed to different types of Exergaming and Fitness equipment to stimulate the mind and body.
George Velarde, Head Physical Education Instructor and Advisory Board member of Exergame Fitness has been hosting this event as a fundraiser for the last 8 years as a way to put money back into the Physical Education Program. Not only that, but over the last few years George has donated part of that money to other Academic Programs as well.
On display at the event was the revolutionary multi-player dance system called iDANCE.The iDance Multiplayer concept is an original idea from Positive Gaming, created and designed for environments such as Fitness Centers, Schools, YMCA’s, Park Districts and Leisure Centers. Parker Johnson, Project Manager of Motion Fitness said, “The iDANCE was the perfect setting for the showcase day. Students were coming in droves to play the dance system. They were so excited, and we had so many kids participating that we even used some of our practice pads for the kids to play, and all the students kindly rotated every song. It was a great display of how Exergaming can engage large groups of people.”
