St. Monica’s Recreation Center, “A ministry for God’s Children”, sits on three acres in the Village of Lincoln Heights primarily serving children ages 6-16 providing a variety of programs and activities throughout the year, serving 75-100 youth daily.
Recently St. Monica came to Exergame to inquire about some interactive fitness products that would be a good fit for their recreation programs. Exergame products like interactive touch wall games are excellent tools for engaging kids in recreational activities while promoting physical fitness. Here’s why they’re beneficial:
1. Promotes Physical Activity: Interactive touch walls encourage kids to move, jump, reach, and stretch, making exercise fun and active play. This approach counters sedentary habits by providing a natural and enjoyable way for kids to stay active.
2. Engages Multiple Senses: The interactive design of touch walls combines visual, auditory, and tactile elements, making games more stimulating. This multi-sensory experience not only holds kids’ attention but also aids in motor skill development as they respond to different stimuli on the wall.
3. Encourages Social Interaction and Teamwork: Many touch wall games allow for multiple players, fostering social interaction and teamwork. Kids can play together, compete, or work towards shared goals, which builds social skills and makes recreation time more enjoyable and inclusive.
4. Cognitive Benefits: Touch wall games often require quick reactions, memory, and problem-solving skills. Kids may have to remember patterns, anticipate movements, or make split-second decisions, enhancing their cognitive development.
