PEORIA — It is part game room, part disco, part health club-and kids in the heart of Illinois cannot get enough of it.
Exergaming is a brand new part of the RiverPlex in Peoria.
The state-of-the-art facility costs around $100,000.
It is complete with a moving rock climbing wall, cycling video games and more.
Kids said it is a good mix of what they want and need.
Exergame Fitness CEO Tommy Seilheimer said this is all part of a new way to get kids excited about fitness.
“This isn’t bringing an overweight kid into a health club and telling them to lift weights,” Seilheimer said. “They are getting fit here, they are having fun and they don’t want to leave.”
Exergame Fitness is based out of Palatine, illinois.
They have put their program in hundreds of cities around the country, even worldwide in Dubai and the Philippines.
