Wii Fit Can Sell 4 Million in US in 2008 – Kids Fitness
A record-breaking $40 million marketing budget can help Nintendo sell four million copies of Wii Fit in the US during 2008, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.
“Wii Fit will sell 3 million to 4 million in the US if they market aggressively,” Pachter told the New York Post.
In comparison, according to the NPD Group, only three titles topped sales of three million units in the US during 2007. Halo 3 shifted 4.8 million units, Wii Play sold 4.1 million and Call of Duty 4 moved 3 million.
Pachter also said he had been informed that the game will receive the largest marketing launch in Nintendo’s history, with a budget as high as $40 million.
Wii Fit, which launches in the US on May 19 and in Europe on April 25, has already sold more than 1.5 million copies in Japan since its release last December.
The ‘eEergaming’ title features four different training categories: aerobic exercises, muscle workouts, yoga and balance games. Within these four categories it features 40 different activities including Hula Hoop, Ski Jump, Press-up Challenge and Rhythm Boxing. The game comes bundled with the Wii Balance Board accessory.
