The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona offers a safe place for Prescott and Prescott Valley youth to go to after the school bell rings to foster self-confidence and positive relationships with others. It builds on their long history by focusing on 4 concepts: fun with a purpose, academic success, character development, and healthy choices.

Exergame had the amazing opportunity to help build on these 4 pillars of success by introducing interactive gaming into their healthy choices programs.

Exergaming, which combines exercise with video gaming, can be a great way to promote physical activity at Boys and Girls Clubs. Here’s are examples of other BGC’s and how it can be a healthy choice at your club:

1. Engagement Through Fun

Exergames make exercise enjoyable by integrating it with video games that kids love. This can motivate children who might not be interested in traditional sports or fitness activities to get moving.

2. Accessible for All Fitness Levels

Exergames are often adaptable to different skill and fitness levels. This means that all kids, regardless of their athletic ability, can participate and benefit from physical activity without feeling left out or overwhelmed.

3. Improves Physical Fitness

Exergames can provide a full-body workout, improving cardiovascular health, strength, coordination, and flexibility. Games that involve dancing, sports simulations, or fitness challenges encourage continuous movement, which contributes to overall physical fitness.

4. Encourages Social Interaction

Many exergames can be played in groups, promoting teamwork, friendly competition, and social interaction. This can be particularly beneficial in a community setting like Boys and Girls Clubs, where fostering a sense of camaraderie is important.
