Seattle WA – Exergaming has been a big success in helping YMCA’s plan and program for youth fitness at their families. In December 2014, the YMCA of Greater Seattle Association installed exergame rooms at the Coal Creek Family YMCA and Dale Turner YMCA in what they were hoping would be the first of the association’s facilities to work with Exergame Fitness. Both YMCAs have seen a great response since making the equipment available to their members. According to Sara Biancofiori, the Associate Executive Director at Coal Creek Family YMCA “The Exergame room was a huge hit!” in regards to their PlayFit Family Night they had held for their members.
In fact, these Exergame rooms have been such a huge success that the YMCA of Greater Seattle Association has decided to bring more exergaming to their facilities. The Northshore YMCA is the next one to work with Exergame Fitness to provide an interactive fitness experience for their members. The equipment that will be installed are the TWall64, Eyeplay, HeavyBall, and 3Kick for their modified Youth X room.
The facility is set to install their Exergame room by the end of June. Below is a 3D diagram of how their room will be set up and pictures of each item. The room is designed to have the equipment along the wall to allow multiple uses for the space – a huge plus for facilities that needs their space for a variety of activities.
There is a lot of excitement at the Northshore YMCA about this new addition to their facility and to the YMCA association. Stay tuned for more updates as the installation date nears.
