KidRec opened in July 2016 to meet the needs of the FitRec families in the community of Palos Hills. This new addition offers unlimited KidRec visits, open times for families to enjoy together, and additional classes and programs designed to encourage your children ages 3 months to 15 years to stay active and have fun! One of the core pieces of this new facility was the launch of their Exergame Room. This room is specifically designed for kids ages 6–14. The interactive fitness room is customized to fit the new model of social interaction, movement, and engagement.
Through this new space they have not only seen an increase in youth membership, but also families participating and exercising together! In off hours this space is converted into a small group, and personal training area as well! Using similar concepts of gamification found in video games, kids and adults won’t even realize they are working out.
Hear directly from the Director, Campus Recreation Mike Schneider on the benefits the interactive gaming room has brought this rec center and their increase in overall family memberships.
