Leading global solutions provider Pulse has signed a three year contract with Exergame Fitness™ to exclusively distribute their market leading interactive fitness products to the UK and Europe. The products will fall under a new division of the business which will be led by recently appointed Director of Interactive Products, Paul Shinners.
The deal will see Pulse offer a range of interactive products for both children and adults, as well as creating interactive fitness zones in facilities, as part of their design and build division, Pulse Select. The creation of the new division and Shinner’s appointment demonstrates Pulse’s commitment to the interactive fitness market.
Shinners has over 25 years’ experience in the leisure sector. He founded Dance Machine UK, which was bought by Pulse in 2011. Shinners remained at Pulse as Sales Director until 2013. He has since been conducting his own research into interactive fitness across the globe, whilst working as an independent sports and fitness consultant for new academy schools.
“I am delighted to have joined Pulse as Director of Interactive Products,” says Shinners, “I am looking forward to exploring the different opportunities we can present to our clients to help them make fitness more engaging than ever before. Interactive products put the fun into fitness and as such they attract users who would not otherwise visit a gym. With Pulse’s extensive experience in design, build and facility management we will be able to create interactive zones for any target market. This presents and exciting opportunity for our clients.”
Reporting directly to Managing Director Chris Johnson, Shinners will explore opportunities with a range of market sectors including private fitness clubs, local authority leisure centres, educational establishments and the MOD. He will work to develop further exclusive distribution agreements with other interactive products to ensure Pulse remain at the forefront of this market.
“I expect to see significant growth in the interactive fitness market over the next 12 months,” says Johnson. “As society becomes increasing technologically savvy we will see more technology adopted by the fitness industry. As a total leisure solutions company we strive to be at the cutting edge, offering the perfect mix of the most current products. With Paul’s knowledge and expertise I have no doubt that he will be able to deliver interactive solutions which add real value.”
Pulse will initially bring three Exergame products to market:
Exerbike®
A stationary bike with pedal to play technology that can be used with any XBOX game; users must pedal to activate the XBOX controller and play their game.
3Kick
Three towers, each with three targets that can be punched, kicked or slapped. The individual targets light up randomly and the quicker you can strike the lit up target, the more points you earn, helping to increase reaction and speed.
Heavy Ball
Find the illuminated tube and drop your medicine ball through it, then retrieve it from the archway underneath. Move quickly to get more points. Play solo, two players, or in teams. A great training tool for weighted lateral movement and squatting.
“The strategic partnership with Pulse is an ideal fit, as we both strive to be at the cutting edge of technology,” says Exergame Chief Executive Ed Kasanders. “With Pulse’s experience and knowledge of the UK and European markets, we will be able to really bring interactive fitness to the forefront of the industry.”
