HIIT Training With Interactive Fitness and Exergaming

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) describes any workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity and fixed periods of less-intense activity or even complete rest. It’s simple but proven to be a very effective way to workout. To make HIIT training more fun and engaging why not combine it with Exergaming. One good starter workout you can do is running as fast as you can for one minute. After completing that why not use the tWall for one minute? The tWall is a light wall that provides sensory feedback via lights and touch sensors. It’s a perfect complement to HIIT training because of the quick nature of the game. It improves hand-eye coordination, speed, reaction time, etc. You can even use some of our other pieces of equipment that benefit strength, cardio, and lateral quickness like our 3 Kick and Heavy Ball. Workouts like pushups, lunges, lateral slides, squats, etc all can be done while Exergaming.  Here’s some proven benefits of HIIT.

  • Efficiency– For anyone who has a busy schedule HIIT training is the ideal workout. Research shows that 15 minutes of interval training can achieve more than someone jogging on the treadmill for an hour.
  • Burn more fat– Not only do you burn more calories during a HIIT workout, but the effect of the intense workout kicks your body into overdrive. This means that you will burn more fat and calories in 24 hours after a HIIT workout than you do after a steady pace run.
  • No equipment is needed– Running, biking, jump roping, and rowing all work great for HIIT, but you don’t need any equipment to get it done. For example, high knees, fast feet, or any plyometrics can work just as well to get that heart rate up.
  • Lose weight not muscle– For people who are on a diet, it’s hard to not lose muscle mass along with fat. With HIIT, studies show that both weight and training and HIIT workouts allow dieters to preserve their hard-earned muscles while ensuring weight loss. Seems like a win win!
  • Boosts endurance– Next time you’re doing a slow jog, just pick it up for 60 seconds. One minute of high-intensity work during an otherwise not-so-hard workout can boost your endurance and overall health. That improved endurance will carry over to your more moderate-intensity runs, bike rides, or other workouts.

Overall, HIIT workouts are seriously challenging. With the workout being so short, you will be working extremely hard the whole time. You might be sore, but you will definitely not be bored. In the end, HIIT is very beneficial.
